This scarlet red spray primer helps hobby painters create an even red base quickly, especially on projects where brush-applying the first red layers would take too much time. It is useful for red armor, fantasy creatures, sci-fi panels, banners, symbols, vehicles, shields, weapons, terrain accents, and dramatic tabletop pieces that need a bold color start.

Because Vallejo Scarlet Red Spray Primer 28.016 works as both a primer-style base coat and a highly pigmented color layer, it can help reduce the number of brush layers needed before highlights, glazes, decals, drybrushing, washes, and weathering effects. The matte finish gives later paint layers a practical surface to grip while keeping model details visible.

Technical Specifications & Application Guide

Beyond the Label

Vallejo Fantasy Color Scarlet Red Spray Primer 28.016 is useful when a project needs a bold red foundation before the main detail work begins. It helps create an even base for red armor, banners, vehicles, monsters, terrain accents, sci-fi panels, fantasy creatures, and heroic display models.

The matte surface gives later paint layers something to grip while the model remains ready for washes, highlights, edge work, glazes, decals, and weathering effects. This makes Scarlet Red useful as both a time-saving primer and a strong base color for red-heavy projects.

Pro Tips from the Studio

• Test first: Always test the spray on spare material before applying it to the final model.
• Build color gradually: Use light passes instead of one heavy coat to help preserve surface detail.
• Use the right nozzle: Use the low-discharge nozzle for smaller areas and the medium-discharge nozzle for larger surfaces.
• Plan your color scheme: Scarlet Red can support darker crimson schemes, bright heroic reds, fantasy armor, sci-fi panels, and warm red accents.
